Albany Park Panthers
Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation (POWER) is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

Parents, please make sure to check the grade levels on classes before registering.
Please note that students that register for classes later than 2:30pm will have to be picked up after school and dropped off for their class unless they attend the after school POWER program.

Color Me Happy!
Let your child’s imagination run wild in this fun, hands-on coloring class! Perfect for grades 1-4, while building fine motor skills and confidence. Each week brings new take-home art—no experience needed, just a love for coloring!

Calming Coloring Club
Students will be learning about how coloring and other crafts can be used a way to relieve stress, relax their brain, and enjoy the freedom of creative expression.

LEGOs Around the World
Students will explore historical monuments through LEGOS and engage in collaboration, STEM concepts, and problem solving skills.

How to Draw
Students will follow how to videos to draw characters, cute foods, cartoons, and fun objects. Each student will have their own drawing pad and set of dual tip markers. In addition to drawing, students will get mini lessons on the subjects of the drawing videos.

This after school club will promote building a positive school culture. This club will also promote building friendships, having positive behavior, and promoting school spirit.

Meditation Club
Come and join the Meditation Club, a peaceful space dedicated to relaxation, mindfulness, and inner balance. Our sessions focus on a variety of meditation techniques to help calm the mind and rejuvenate the body. 🌿 Breathing Techniques/mindfulness – Learn controlled breathing exercises such as deep diaphragmatic breathing and using the “shark fin” technique to reduce stress and enhance focus. 🧘 Light Yoga & Stretching – Engage in gentle yoga poses and mindful stretching to release tension, improve flexibility, and prepare the body for deeper meditation. 🏞 Zen Garden Experience – Enjoy the meditative practice of raking sand and arranging stones in a tranquil tabletop Zen garden, fostering mindfulness and creativity. Join us in a supportive, serene environment where you can unwind, reflect, and find your inner peace.

Love reading? Join our ELOP Book! Each week, you'll read a new book, discuss it with friends, and dive into exciting stories. It's a great way to explore awesome books, and share your thoughts. Basic Sewing Skills
The students will learn simple sewing skills such as; sewing on a button, threading a needle, and fixing a hem. We will be making pillows & pillow cases, Mother's day gifts (a drawstring bag & pot holder), and stuffed animals. Mrs. Peacock will be a guest teacher in this class.

Creative Learning
Creative Learning: Hands-On Learning Through Play. Join us for an afterschool program where young learners will explore, create, and connect through engaging hands-on activities!
In this class, students will develop fine motor skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork as they build with LEGO bricks, solve puzzles, and engage in interactive games. They will also express their creativity through painting, drawing, and coloring, allowing their imaginations to shine. Beyond the fun and learning, this class promotes socialization and collaboration. Students will practice communication, teamwork, and friendship-building skills as they work together on projects, share ideas, and support one another in a positive and engaging environment. This is the perfect opportunity for students to grow academically, creatively, and socially—all while having fun!
