Albany Park Panthers

Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation (POWER) is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

Parents, please make sure to check the grade levels on classes before registering. Please note that students that register for classes later than 2:30pm will have to be picked up after school and dropped off for their class unless they attend the after school POWER program.

  • Painting by Design

    A new spin on paint by numbers. As well as creating their own masterpieces.

    Improve reading skills through engaging games and activities.

    Students will build and create fun objects utilizing LEGO blocks.

  • The Puzzle Crafters

    Students will have an opportunity to increase their mental speed and improve their short term memory all while having an exciting time putting jigsaw puzzles together. This course allows students to work in a team setting where completing puzzles together can strengthen peer bonds and create opportunities for quality time and shared experiences. Most importantly, this course provides a break from screens and encourages hands-on, tactile engagement.

  • Slime Club

    Students will be using their math skills and will learn science when making slime. Students will learn how slime is made and how it becomes a non-Neotonian fluid (liquid solid). They will be using their fine motor skills. Slime will also provide an ideal medium for sensory stimulation as it engages multiple senses such as touch, smell, sight, and hearing as well as additional senses.

  • Puppet Club

    Join the Puppet Club where you will learn and have fun at the same time. Puppetry is a form of theater where you manipulate a puppet to any character you like. It will help you express yourself and learn social skills as well as communication skills that can help in the future. Even if your shy I know you will enjoy it.

    Arts and Crafts

    Students will engage in various arts and crafts. They will paint, melt beads, and do diamond painting.
