Harvest Bears
Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation (POWER) is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

Parents, please make sure to check the grade levels on classes before registering. Please note that students that register for classes later than 2:30pm will have to be picked up after school and dropped off for their class unless they attend the after school POWER program.

Folklorico
Students will explore the traditions of Mexican folklorico through dance, music, and cultural storytelling. This program introduces students to traditional dances, rhythms, movements and regional costumes while building confidence and teamwork.

Beginning Crochet
In this course, students will learn the basics of how to crochet. By the end of the course, they will be able to start with a basic foundation of a slip knot and chain. They will also learn a few beginner stitches like a single crochet and half double crochet.

Creative Minds: Puzzles, Board Games and Art
Students will have fun exploring puzzles, board games, and creative art projects. Through hands-on actives, students will build problem-solving skills, creativity, teamwork, and good sportsmanship while learning and having fun!

World Travelers
Through interactive activities, hands-on projects, stories, games, music, art and cultural traditions, students will explore the unique customs and lifestyles of people from different countries.

Arts & Crafts, Board Games, and AR Literacy
This course provides students with opportunities to express their creativity through arts and crafts, develop critical thinking and social skills through board games, and strengthen their reading comprehension and literacy skills through Accelerated Reader (AR). Students will participate in hands-on art projects, engage in fun and educational games that promote teamwork and problem-solving, and build reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. The course encourages creativity, positive peer interactions, good sportsmanship, and a love of reading in a fun, supportive learning environment.

Holiday Arts & Crafts
Students will explore their creativity by making fun and festive holiday-themed arts and crafts throughout the school year. Through hands-on activities, students will create seasonal decorations, handmade gifts, and holiday projects while developing fine motor skills, creativity, and self-expression. This course encourages imagination, teamwork, and positive social interactions in a fun and welcoming environment.

Creative Cozies Class (No-Sew Tie Pillows and Throws)
Create and design your own cozy room decor in Creative Cozies Class! This hands-on, interactive class is specially designed to learn the art of crafting without needing a single needle or thread. Students will master the popular "no-sew" technique using soft fleece. Every student will finish the session with soft, customized decor to take home and enjoy!

Blocks & Engineering: Little Builders, Big Ideas!
Get ready to build, create, and explore in Blocks & Engineering, where imagination comes to life one block at a time! Students in grades 2–3 will enjoy hands-on activities using LEGO bricks, magnetic tiles, and other building blocks to create exciting structures while developing creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Students in grades 4–5 will take building to the next level by becoming young architects and engineers, designing and constructing bridges, skyscrapers, houses, and miniature cities through fun STEM challenges.
