Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation (POWER) is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

Parents, please make sure to check the grade levels on classes before registering. Please note that students that register for classes later than 2:30pm will have to be picked up after school and dropped off for their class unless they attend the after school POWER program.

  • Arts & crafts Games and AR quizzes

    Students participate in hands-on arts and crafts activities that encourage creativity and self-expression, engage in interactive games that promote teamwork and problem-solving, and complete augmented reality (AR) quizzes that make learning fun through immersive, technology-based experiences. These activities help build creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and engagement while reinforcing educational concepts in an enjoyable way

  • Space Exploration

    Get ready to blast off on an unforgettable adventure through space! In this exciting hands-on class, students will explore the solar system, build rockets, solve astronaut challenges, create space missions, and discover the incredible science behind space exploration through fun experiments, games, and creative projects. Whether your child dreams of becoming an astronaut or simply loves to explore and imagine, this class is the perfect opportunity to ignite curiosity, inspire discovery, and reach for the stars!

  • Arts & Crafts and Painting

    This hands-on class helps young learners explore colors, shapes, and textures using safe, everyday materials.

    Grade: 2,3

  • ASB Creative Design Studio

    Do you enjoy drawing, painting, and being creative? Join our ASB Creative Design Studio and help bring our school spirit to life! Students will work together to design and paint colorful posters, banners, and decorations for school events throughout the year. This hands-on enrichment class is a fun way to express your creativity, collaborate with others, and make a lasting impact on our school community. Come create, paint, and inspire school spirit!

  • Paper Squishies

    Paper Squishies is a creative, hands-on class where imagination comes to life! Students will create their own unique paper squishies while exploring different art techniques and expressing their personal style. It's a fun way to enjoy arts and crafts without the mess, giving students the chance to create adorable keepsakes, build creativity, and share their one-of-a-kind designs with friends.

    Grade: 5

  • Card & Board Games

    Students will be exploring various card and board games. The students will have a range of games to choose from and master.

  • Alphabet Academy: Uppercase, Lowercase & Letter Sounds

    This after-school intervention class is designed to strengthen foundational early literacy skills for students who need additional support with alphabet knowledge. Students will receive targeted instruction and engaging, hands-on practice recognizing and naming uppercase and lowercase letters, matching uppercase and lowercase letter pairs, and identifying and producing letter sounds. Lessons will include games, multisensory activities, songs, movement, and small-group instruction to build confidence and prepare students for reading success.

  • Little Learners Club

    Little Learners club is an engaging after-school intervention class that provides extra support in early reading and math through hands-on activities, games, and small-group instruction.

  • Battle of the Books

    Do you love great stories and fun challenges? Join our Battle of the Books team! Students will read exciting books, work together in teams, play book trivia games, build reading comprehension skills, and prepare for friendly competitions. Whether you're already an avid reader or want to discover new favorite books, this is a great opportunity to make friends, have fun, and grow as a reader. Come ready to read, think, and battle with books!

  • Mystery Story Writing

  • Excellence Academy- Math

    Excellence Academy is a fun after-school class where fifth graders build their math skills through games, hands-on activities, and exciting challenges. We'll work together to practice important fifth-grade math standards, solve real-world problems, and learn new strategies that make math easier to understand.

    Grade: 5

  • Science Fair

    Students will explore a scientific question through hands-on investigation and experimentation. They will use the scientific method to design, test, analyze, and present their findings while building critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
