Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation (POWER) is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

Parents, please make sure to check the grade levels on classes before registering. Please note that students that register for classes later than 2:30pm will have to be picked up after school and dropped off for their class unless they attend the after school POWER program.

  • Diamond Art Painting

    Spark your creativity with Diamond Art Painting! Students will create shimmering artworks by placing tiny “diamonds” on canvases, building focus, patience, and pride in their finished masterpieces.

  • Spring Sparkle Studio

    Join us for a fun and creative class full of sparkles and imagination! Students will make bracelets, jewelry, decorate notebooks and pens, design tote bags, color plushies, and create adorable spring crafts. This hands-on class is perfect for little creators who love all things cute and crafty.

  • Gem Arts and Crafts

    Join us for a fun and creative class where students will make sparkling gem art and enjoy hands-on craft projects! Children will learn to slow down, focus, and build patience as they carefully place each gem to complete colorful designs.

    Students will learn the traditional movements, music, and cultural history of Mexican folklórico.

  • Sound Squad: Young Musicians Workshop

    Already in band or mariachi? Join our afterschool enrichment class to sharpen your skills, learn new music, and perform with friends! - Build confidence - Improve your sound - Have fun making music together Take your music to the next level and SIGN UP!

  • Mariachi Power Plus

    This class is designed for students who are currently enrolled in mariachi or have prior experience with mariachi instruments. The program provides additional practice time to strengthen instrumental technique, ensemble performance, and musicianship. Students will continue developing their skills on traditional mariachi instruments such as violin, trumpet, guitar, vihuela, and guitarrón while learning new songs and refining repertoire. The class focuses on improving tone, rhythm, stage presence, and teamwork through group rehearsals and performance preparation. It is an opportunity for mariachi students to deepen their musical abilities, build confidence, and further celebrate the rich tradition of mariachi music.

  • Beginner Crochet

    Students will learn the basics of how to crochet. By the end of the course, they will be able to start with a basic foundation of a slip knot and chain. They will also learn a few beginner stitches like a single crochet and half double crochet. Join me in learning this fascinating art form. Let's learn and have fun!

  • Flag Football Fun

    Flag football for 3rd-5th graders is a fun, non-contact, 5v5 game focused on speed, teamwork, and agility. Players wear belts with flags, and a tackle is made by pulling a flag rather than physical contact. It emphasizes passing, catching, and route-running, with no blocking or diving allowed.

  • Gem Art fun!

    Come and have some fun being creative using gem art! Come make stickers, keychains and coasters all with gem art!!
