Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP)

Parents, please review the grade level and the time slot of the afterschool class before registering your student.

If your student’s first session begins AFTER 2:30 PM it will require your student to be picked up from school and then returned to school for their scheduled ELOP class, unless your student is enrolled in the regular P.O.W.E.R. program.

  • Battle of the Books

    Students will read interesting books at 4th grade level or higher to complete the Battle of the books list. These students will achieve prizes for each completed book. For every completed book, students may take AR quizzes for accomplishing their reading medals. Students will participate in our district’s Battle of the Books competition. Special awards will be granted for the hard work and dedication.

  • READING WARRIORS

    Are you having a tough time reaching your AR goals and need extra support? Then come join our after school reading club, where a warrior will have time to read and a quiet place to take quizzes. This is the club for you to just be R.E.A.L.! and reach their AR goals.

  • Create and Play Club

    Create & Play Club is a fun, hands-on enrichment program designed for 1st–2nd grade students. In this club, students explore creativity and imagination through play-based activities using materials such as Legos bricks, magnetic tiles, Play-Doh, and drawing and coloring supplies.

  • Pottery & Sculpture

    In this hands-on course, students will explore the art of ceramics on a small scale! Using air-dry clay, students will learn to design and craft detailed miniature sculptures. Additionally, we will use miniature pottery wheels to practice shaping tiny clay pots.

  • Nintendo Switch

    Come and join our power of play and learning with our exciting after school Nintendo Switch class! Students will explore teamwork, problem solving, and creativity through fun, interactive games they love. It's a great way to make new friends, build confidence, and unwind after a busy school day.   • Paint By Number

    Students will explore the joy of painting through guided, number-coded canvases that make art accessible to everyone. This course encourages creativity, patience, and attention to detail while helping participants develop color recognition, brush control, and artistic confidence.

    Scrapbooking & Painting – Capture Memories, Create Masterpieces

    Let your creativity shine in this colorful and expressive class where students will blend the art of storytelling with painting and design! In Scrapbooking & Painting, students will create beautiful, personalized scrapbook pages while also learning fun painting techniques to bring their memories and moments to life.

    Disney DIY – Crafting Magic from Your Favorite Movies!

    Step into the magic of Disney in this hands-on, creative class where imagination comes to life! In Disney DIY, students will design and create fun crafts inspired by their favorite Disney characters, movies, and magical moments.

    Each session blends creativity, storytelling, and crafting fun while building fine motor skills, encouraging self-expression, and sparking joY.

  • DIY Pens and Bracelets

    Students will be able to make DIY pens or mechanical pencils. They will be able to make beautiful and creative pens with beads and choose from a variety of colors and holiday themes including 3D toy-cartoon characters. Students will also make erasers using a creative craft kit and decorate a pencil box with stickers and Gem Diamonds.

    Art class is where students can focus on building foundational art skills and exploring creative expression through various media. Students will learn about elements of art like line, shape, color, and texture, as well as principles of design like balance and contrast. They'll experiment with different techniques like drawing, painting, collage, and sculpture, and learn to analyze and interpret artwork.

    Welcome to Slime Time!—the ultimate hands-on class where science meets creativity! In this ooey-gooey adventure, students will explore the fun (and slightly messy) world of slime-making. Each week, we’ll mix up different slime recipes—from fluffy and glittery to crunchy and glow-in-the-dark—while learning basic chemistry concepts in a kid-friendly way.
