Fremont Warriors
Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP)

Parents, please review the grade level and the time slot of the afterschool class before registering your student.
If your student’s first session begins AFTER 2:30 PM it will require your student to be picked up from school and then returned to school for their scheduled ELOP class, unless your student is enrolled in the regular P.O.W.E.R. program.

AVID Reading
Students will spend time reading with the class and learning the AVID way to read. They will be expected to read whole class and/or follow along with the class reading selection. Students will then spend time taking AR quizzes on books. In this class students will learn to comprehend higher leveled text and books.

Writing Adventures: Quick Writes and Creative Stories
This creative writing course strengthens students’ writing skills, confidence, imagination, and creativity. Students will learn to understand prompts, organize ideas, and write clear, detailed responses through engaging activities focused on character development, story events, descriptive details, and creative endings. The course also prepares students for state writing assessments by developing their ability to thoughtfully plan and produce well-developed written responses.

AR Recoup-Intervention
Join our after-school AR Reading Class and become a stronger, more confident reader! Students will read engaging books and work together to discuss important events, characters, and ideas. Before taking an AR quiz, I will ask comprehension questions to help students check their understanding of the book. This practice will help students improve their reading skills, vocabulary, and comprehension. Students will also have the opportunity to earn AR points as they successfully complete quizzes. These points can help students work toward earning reading medals while celebrating their progress and success as readers.

STEAM
Students will work on STEAM Olympiad game events using skills and strategies to navigate through Mancala, Circle Tic Tac Toe, Contig, Sudoku, as well as Codebusters. Students will work collaboratively and independently to become stronger critical thinkers and strategize for each game. They will practice skills such as counting and mathematical operations.

Art and Craft with Ismael
This creative arts and crafts course combines drawing, painting, and hands-on robotics. Students will explore their creativity through paint, pastels, markers, and other art materials while developing drawing techniques, designing original art pieces, and creating artwork that may be showcased in the end-of-year Art Gallery. Through guided projects, students will also learn the basics of building and designing robots using gears, wires, craft materials, and simple tools. The course encourages imagination, problem-solving, craftsmanship, and confidence while helping students create meaningful artwork and innovative projects.
