Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation (POWER) is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

Parents, please make sure to check the grade levels on classes before registering. Please note that students that register for classes later than 2:30pm will have to be picked up after school and dropped off for their class unless they attend the after school POWER program.

    Pokémon Card Game Adventure: A STEM Journey for 1st to 3rd Graders

    Join us for an exciting and educational journey into the world of Pokémon! This interactive class is designed for 1st through 3rd graders, where students will explore the Pokémon Trading Card Game while engaging in hands-on activities that connect to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) concepts. Students will learn about different types of Pokémon cards, enhancing their comprehension of game mechanics and strategic thinking. Through gameplay, they will reinforce their basic math skills, learn to collaborate through teamwork, and develop a growth mindset. Join us for a fun-filled class that combines the thrill of the Pokémon card game with essential STEM learning, teamwork, and strategic thinking! This area sums it up.

    Sensory Playroom

    A space which aims to provide students with the individualized sensory input they need to self-regulate, so they can be better prepared for learning and interacting with others

    Children will have various building challenges while incorporating STEM.

    Art of Animation

    Students will cultivate an appreciation of animation as an artistic medium. In this course students will learn the fundamentals of animation with hands on experience in drawing. By the end of the course students will be making their own animated creations.

    Clay Arts and Crafts

    Students will create clay projects. Students will use unique techniques and imagination. Students will develop creative thinking in a stress free environment.

    PE Sports and Skills

    This course will teach help students learn the basic fundamentals and skills in every sport so they can apply it in real game scenarios. They will also behind responsibility and leadership skills.

    Join "The Craft and Chill Club" for a relaxing space where you can unwind with coloring, crafting, or getting lost in a good book. Whether you're crafting your latest project or enjoying a peaceful chapter, it's all about creativity and stress-free fun!

    G.A.T.E. Fairy Tales & More

    G.A.T.E Students will venture the land of Fairy Tales where we will read classic stories together and have deep discussions. Culminating activity will be shared at the GATE Festival.

    Battle of the Books

    Students will be reading books on the Battle of the Books list and taking AR quizzes. We will be practicing battle rounds as well.
