Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation (POWER) is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

Parents, please make sure to check the grade levels on classes before registering.
Please note that students that register for classes later than 2:30pm will have to be picked up after school and dropped off for their class unless they attend the after school POWER program.

Full drill diamond painting is a craft where the entire canvas is covered with colorful resin rhinestones, creating vibrant and textured artwork.

How to Draw
Students will follow how to videos to draw characters, cute foods, cartoons, and fun objects. Each student will have their own drawing pad and set of dual tip markers. Students will make mini canvases.

Shelf Care Club
Join our Shelf Care Club after school! This is a quiet and cozy time for all readers to enjoy books and grow their reading skills. 3rd Grade Battle of the Books participants can use this time to prepare for upcoming competitions. Other students can relax with a good book, take AR quizzes, or work on Lexia to boost their reading progress. Come read, learn, and have fun with friends who love books as much as you do!

Garden Club
Join us after school for some hands-on fun in the garden! In the Garden Club, students will dig, plant, water, and watch their very own plants grow. Each week, we’ll explore how plants live, what they need to grow, and why caring for the Earth is so important.This year, we’ll also grow our very own microgreens—tiny, tasty plants that sprout in just days! Students will learn how to plant and harvest microgreens while discovering how these nutrient-packed greens help keep us healthy. Students will also learn about composting, pollinators, and healthy eating—all while getting a little sunshine and fresh air! Come ready to get your hands dirty, work together, and discover the magic of nature right in our school garden. 🌼🌿

Stage Crew and Set Design
Stage Crew & Set Design Class In this class, students will get a behind-the-scenes look at how musicals come to life! Kids will learn how to be part of the stage crew, helping with lights, sound, props, and moving scenery. They’ll also get to use their creativity to help design and set up backgrounds that make the stage look magical. From painting scenery to learning how to change sets quickly and safely, students will discover how important stage crew is to making every show a success. It’s the perfect class for kids who like to build, create, and be part of a team that brings the show to life!
