Cecil Avenue Patriots
Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation (POWER) is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

Students will engage in different arts and craft activities. Along with outside physical activities. This course is a variety of engaging activities for middle school students.

Oral Language
Do you enjoy speaking or performing in front of an audience? If so, you may be interested in Oral Language. In this session, students will memorize and present their interpretation of a published literary work written by a known author. Presentations are 3-5 minutes in length. Categories of competition are: Humorous Interpretation Solo, Humorous Interpretation Duo, Serious Interpretation Solo, Serious Interpretation Duo, and Verse Choir.

In Oral Language you’ll choose a short piece from a book or story written by a well- known author— then make it your own! Whether its funny serious or somewhere in between, you’ll practice how to perform it in a way that shows emotion, personality, and creativity!
