Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation (POWER) is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

    Let's shoot some hoops! Come and work on your dribbling, passing and shooting skills. We will also be playing half court and full court basketball games.

    Beginning Crochet

    In this course, students will learn the basics of how to crochet. By the end of the course, they will be able to start with a basic foundation of a slip knot and chain. They will also learn a few beginner stitches like a single crochet and half double crochet.

    Rube Goldberg Mayhem

    Get ready to tinker, test, and totally blow your mind! In this wild and wacky after-school adventure, you'll team up to build the ultimate Rube Goldberg machine—a ridiculously fun contraption that performs a simple task in the most over-the-top way possible. Think chain reactions, rolling marbles, flying dominos, swinging pendulums, and surprise twists at every turn! Along the way, you'll learn about physics, engineering, creativity, and teamwork—without even realizing you're learning (because you're too busy laughing and building!). Whether you love inventing things or just want to see what happens when you mix a toy car, a mousetrap, and a tower of books, this is the class for you. Let’s turn the ordinary into the extraordinary—one overcomplicated step at a time!
