Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation (POWER) is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

  • Art & Crafts (Fine Motor Training)

    Kids will be able to develop thier fine motor skills by praticipating in different types of arts and crafts activites approprite for thier age.

  • Imaginative Play

    Kids will use their imaginations to pretend to do everyday things. Such as grocery shop, cook, work on cars, camping and many other things.

  • Beginner's Golf

    This course is for beginners in developing fundamental golf skills from terminology to performance.

  • Fort Building & Gross Motor Play

    Students will have access to materials to build forts, play tents and tunnels. They will also have balance beams, stepping stones and more. Students will be able to build, crawl and play at the end of their school day.

  • Let's Be Creative

    Students will create art using differnt mediums. From painting to string art. We will learn about rhythm using our hands, feet and small handheld instruments.

  • Building Fine Motor Skills

    Students will have the opportunity to build their fine motor skills doing a variety of fun activities. We will manipulate playdough, thread objects, paint, stack objects, and more! Join us as we develop control and strength while learning!

  • Reading & Crafts

    Bring together two great activities that students love! Reading books and making crafts linked to a story. Crafts bring the book or story alive, and the story adds meaning to the Art! Students will create arts and crafts using various materials, painting, drawing, and coloring.

  • Career Exploration

    Students will set goals for home and school to learn about goal setting and the successes and challenges they encounter.  They will later identify a career that they would like to pursue in their future.  Together we will explore those careers to learn what they are all about and what steps they may need to take to prepare for them.

  • Dancing Cumbia

    Dance classes help promote self-confidence and boost self-esteem. This will allow your child to connect with not only their physical well-being, but also their mental well-being. Dance provides kids with an expressive outlet to be who they are.

    Students will learn the basics of running for distance as well as speed. We will be performing stretching, breathing, and running drills to improve our cardiovascular endurance.

  • AR Book Club

    Join us for some reading fun! You will be able to read with the teacher, with a partner, or on your own! There will be books available for you to find a comfy spot in the room and enjoy or you will be able to read on MyOn or Epic!

  • A.R. Book Club

    Come and join the reading fun! Students will have the opportunity to read and take AR quizzes. This is a fun reading book club where students can read with a friend, as a whole class, or individually. Students will have an opportunity to earn their AR medals and can also earn prizes and treats as they meet their reading goals.

  • Stitch & Giggles Club

    The Stitch & Giggle Club is a fun, creative, and educational after-school club for grades 3 and 4, where kids learn the art of needlepoint while having a great time with friends. Needlepoint is a type of embroidery that involves stitching thread through a fabric canvas using a needle.
