Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation (POWER) is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

  • Learning Through Play

    Who says play is just for little kids? The Power of Play transforms the classroom into a laboratory of discovery. Students will move beyond basic social play into strategic, goal-oriented exploration. By engaging with engineering challenges, and collaborative logic games, learners develop essential for the 21st-century world: resilience, adaptive thinking, and teamwork.

    Students will use their creativity to build and create with different things such as magnet blocks, Legos, arts materials and more. Students will have opportunity to use and explore calming fidgets to help refocus.

    Join Creative Kids Club — your perfect place to explore art, make new friends, and have tons of fun! Each session, you'll dive into exciting creative projects like drawing, slime-making, and seasonal crafts where you can express yourself and try new things. Whether you're an experienced artist or just looking for a creative outlet, this welcoming club celebrates every skill level and every idea.     Social Dance is an active, course teaching fundamental techniques, rhythm, and etiquette for various social dance styles such as swing, salsa, waltz, mambo, hip-hop, folklorik and cha-cha. It focuses on social interaction, musicality, and technique. Students develop confidence, cardiovascular health, and cultural appreciation for dancing.

    My Arts and Crafts class is a fun, hands-on creative space where students explore a variety of decorative and wearable projects. Students learn to design and create Seasonal deco mesh wreaths, experimenting with color, material, and seasonal themes. The class also includes making beadable pens, where students customize pens with beads and charms, and diamond art, focusing on patience, patterning, and detail. As well as charm bracelets.
