Powerful Outcomes in Wellness, Education, & Recreation (POWER) is an after school program that has been recognized for excellence throughout Region 8 (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Kern Counties). We’ve been invited numerous times to present at conferences across our region and state, and have been highlighted and visited by many different after school entities. We provide safe, effective, innovative, & engaging learning, nutrition, and physical activity programs for DUSD students in grades TK-8.

Parents/Guardians, please make sure to check the grade levels on classes before registering. Please note that students that register for classes that start 3:45pm or after will have to be picked up after school and dropped off for their class(es) unless they attend the after school POWER program.

Delano Union School District

  • Hands on Art: Paper, Beads and Bling

    Students will get creative with friendship bracelets, diamond art, clay and coloring. They'll learn how to make colorful bracelets, build cool things out of clay and create sparkly pictures of their favorite characters or animals. They'll also use coloring to add bright details and make their artwork stand out.

  • E*Sports

    The E-Sports Club is an after-school program where students can connect through competitive and cooperative video gaming. Members will learn teamwork, strategy, communication, and sportsmanship while playing popular games in a positive and supervised environment.

  • Crafts & Paint

    Crafts and painting are all about creativity and self-expression. In this class, students explore different materials, colors, and techniques to create their own unique artwork. Whether painting, designing, or building fun craft projects, it’s a chance to relax, experiment, and bring your ideas to life while having fun with art.

  • Creative STEM T-Shirt Design

    Unleash your creativity and dive into the exciting world of T-shirt design with a STEM twist! In this hands-on course, students will explore the artistic process of designing custom T-shirts while integrating key STEM concepts. Learn how to use technology tools for digital design, understand the science behind fabric and color, and apply math skills to create balanced and scalable artwork. Through projects and experiments, students will develop problem-solving skills and gain confidence in combining creativity with STEM principles to bring their unique ideas to life on wearable art. Perfect for young innovators ready to blend art, science, technology, and math in a fun and practical way!

  • Lego/Puzzle

    This hands-on class invites students to explore the exciting world of LEGO building and puzzle solving through the lens of STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Students will develop critical thinking, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving skills as they design and construct LEGO models and tackle a variety of puzzles. Through collaborative challenges and creative projects, learners will build confidence in applying STEM principles in a fun, interactive environment.

  • Mariachi POWER Plus

    This class is designed for students who are currently enrolled in mariachi or have prior experience with mariachi instruments. The program provides additional practice time to strengthen instrumental technique, ensemble performance, and musicianship. Students will continue developing their skills on traditional mariachi instruments such as violin, trumpet, guitar, vihuela, and guitarrón while learning new songs and refining repertoire. The class focuses on improving tone, rhythm, stage presence, and teamwork through group rehearsals and performance preparation. It is an opportunity for mariachi students to deepen their musical abilities, build confidence, and further celebrate the rich tradition of mariachi music.
